Donations
Where do monetary donations go?
Donations directly support the elderly in our care — covering meals, medicine, caregiver wages, and daily living needs. A portion is also channelled to the Amitabha Foundation, which is shared across other departments including the Children's Home, Dialysis Centre, and Amitabha Assist.
Where do extra donation-in-kind supplies go?
Extra in-kind supplies such as food, diapers, and daily essentials are channelled to the Amitabha Foundation and distributed across departments — including the Children's Home, Dialysis Centre, and Amitabha Assist — wherever the need is greatest.
Can a donation be made in someone else's name — including someone who has passed away?
Yes. We can arrange a donation on behalf of another person, including as a dedication or blessing for someone who has passed away.
Please note: donations made in another person's name are not eligible for tax exemption.
Is there tax relief for donations?
Yes. The Amitabha Foundation is registered under LHDN, so qualifying monetary donations made directly by the donor are eligible for tax exemption. Please retain your receipt for tax filing purposes.
About Amitabha Assist
What is Amitabha Assist?
Amitabha Assist is a community outreach department of the Amitabha Foundation. Their work includes:

Disaster relief — responding to communities affected by floods and emergencies
Supply distribution — delivering food and essentials to those in need
School outreach — supporting schools in remote areas with minimal government assistance
Elder Care — Subsidies
How much does it cost for a resident to stay?
Monthly fees range from RM 1,800 to RM 2,500, depending on the level of care and condition of the resident. Please contact us directly for a personalised quote based on your loved one's needs.
If it's a charity home, why is there a fee?
The listed fees are the unsubsidised rate — in practice, many residents receive financial assistance from the Amitabha Foundation. Some residents stay entirely for free, while others pay only a few hundred ringgit a month. At least one resident is fully sponsored by an external charity (Tzu Chi).

Even the full-rate fee is already partially subsidised by the Foundation. Fees paid by full-rate residents also contribute back to the charity, helping fund care for those who cannot afford to pay.
No one is turned away due to financial hardship. Please reach out to discuss your situation.
About the Centre
Where is the elder care centre located?
Our centre is located at A14, Jalan Rukun 7, Taman Gembira, 58200 Kuala Lumpur. We are easily accessible by car and are open for visits daily from 9am to 5pm.
How many residents can the centre accommodate?
Our centre can accommodate up to 35 elderly residents at one time. If all beds are occupied, we will place your loved one on a waiting list and contact you as soon as a space becomes available.
What types of elderly can be accommodated?
We welcome elderly residents who are mobile, wheelchair-bound, or bedridden. We also accommodate elderly with dementia or other special needs. Each resident receives a level of care tailored to their condition.
Is there an age restriction to stay at the centre?
There is no minimum or maximum age requirement. Any elderly individual who requires care and support is welcome to apply for a place at our centre.
Do residents need to be Buddhist to stay here?
Not at all. All races and religions are welcome at our centre. Residents are free to pray and observe their own beliefs. While our foundation has Buddhist roots, our care is extended to everyone equally.
Care & Medical
Do you have nurses on duty?
Currently we have trained caregivers on duty around the clock. We are actively exploring the engagement of qualified nurses to further strengthen our medical care provision.
What happens during a medical emergency?
In the event of a medical emergency, our staff will immediately:

1. Call an ambulance
2. Notify the centre manager
3. Inform the resident's guardian or family members

Our centre manager will also accompany the elderly resident to the hospital if necessary to ensure continuity of care.
Do you assist with medication management?
Yes. We ensure that all medications are properly organised and scheduled. Our caregivers will ensure medication is administered to each resident on time, every day.
Admission
How do I apply for my family member to stay?
You will need to complete an application form. The elderly applicant will also be required to undergo a simple medical check-up to confirm they do not have any communicable illnesses. We will provide you with a list of the required health screenings.
What documents are required for admission?
The following documents are required at the time of admission:

•  MyKad (Identity Card)
•  Completed application form
•  Latest medical results
Fees & Payment
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept payment via cash, bank transfer, or credit card.
When is the monthly payment due?
The monthly payment cycle is based on the resident's arrival date at the centre. For example, if a resident moves in on the 10th, subsequent payments are due on the 10th of each month.
Is a deposit required upon admission?
Yes. A deposit equivalent to one month's fee is required upon admission. This deposit is fully refundable when the resident decides to move out, and will be returned via bank transfer within one month of departure.
Communication & Family
How will families be updated on their loved one's condition?
We provide regular updates on residents' conditions. Whenever there are any changes, concerns, or notable developments, we will contact the family promptly. You are also welcome to call us at any time during office hours.
Can family members call or contact the elderly?
Yes, family members are encouraged to stay in touch. As long as the resident has their own mobile phone, calls can be made freely. We kindly ask that calls be made before 9:00 pm to respect residents' rest time.
Elder Care — Daily Life
